Aaron Johnson (b. 1975, St. Paul, Minnesota) is an American painter based in Los Angeles, known for psychedelic, dreamlike paintings that balance abstraction and figuration, as well as his inventive reverse-painted acrylic and sock paintings. He studied molecular and cellular biology at the University of Arizona before attending the National Academy of Design and Pratt Institute, and received his MFA from Hunter College in 2005. His work has been exhibited at Almine Rech, NANZUKA, Joshua Liner Gallery and Gallery Poulsen in Copenhagen, among others.
