ARTIFACTS

"ARTIFACTS #1" marked our first collaboration with Tokyo-based multidisciplinary creative Nicolas Yuthanan Chalmeau. "ARTIFACTS” marked Yuthanan's first solo exhibition, and points to the project which seeks to recontextualize overlooked ceramics from Japan's Showa era. Each vessel is sourced by Yuthanan during extensive travels across Japan and chose for it's historical and aesthetic value.

Through the addition of hand painted iconic brand logos, these objects are given new life, bridging traditional craftsmanship with contemporary visual culture. 

The deck of cards functioned as the exhibition catalogue - showcasing all ceramics available at the Tokyo exhibition.
